Step 1: Beat Cancer. Step 2: Help Others.
AJ is a 16 year old young man in Lubbock, TX and is in the 10th grade. He was diagnosed on December 11, 2019 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. That diagnosis was further classified as "hypodiploid" - meaning the genetics of the leukemia make it more difficult to treat. After 1 month of aggressive treatment, he technically entered "remission" as no leukemia was found in his blood or bone marrow. However, the doctors know that unless treatment continues, the leukemia will return. So, the journey to "maintenance" treatment is about 9 months and the whole journey is about 3 years.
AJ attends Trinity Christian School, who has been incredibly supportive throughout this journey! He loves the Lord and everything Star Wars and was just starting to love football and track & field (especially throwing the discus). While this disease was a definite set back for AJ, he is determined to win this battle and has re-joined his friends at school! He is incredibly blessed with friends and family that support him through this battle. He has a wonderful big sister, Ava, who is a senior at Lubbock-Cooper, and she has been extremely supportive and loving throughout this journey. Mom and dad are both physical therapists.
Our first and foremost goal is to help AJ in his battle to "Force Out Cancer." We strongly believe in the power of prayer and have declared that he is ALREADY healed of this cancer, and that we will faithfully walk the treatment path his physicians have laid before us. Naturally, this means dealing with medical bills, insurance issues, time off, etc... We have been extremely blessed by friends, family and complete strangers!
As we move into 2023, AJ's goal to help other children struggling with cancer will become possible! Stay tuned as he shares his plan to comfort other children battling cancer!
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our financial obligations for treatment as well as support other children currently going through cancer treatment. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
